Phyllis Hains started out working with stained glass about 10 years ago and she became fascinated with fused glass about 4 years ago. She took a class to learn the basics at Rowe Stained Glass Studios in Miami and she became totally hooked! Phyllis fuses glass daily. That entails cutting out the glass, making designs and fusing it together in her kiln at temperatures up to 1500 degrees. She is a member of the South Florida Jewelry Arts Guild (www.sfjag.org) and will be teaching fusing to members and non-members of the Guild in August 2008. She teaches small groups of students glass fusing in her studio and beginning this fall at Miami Dade College School of Community Education. Her students enjoy her classes and leave sharing her love of glass. Please e-mail her to plan a class together. Some of her jewelry is on display and for sale at the Heart of the Grove Art Gallery in Coconut Grove. Phyllis was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She has one daughter, Jodi, who is a sign language interpreter in Chicago. Phyllis' boyfriend, Jay, is her official photographer and copper designer. Please don't hesitate to contact Phyllis with any questions about any of the items in her porfolio, prices or to set up an appointment. Her e-mail address is: phyllis@phusedbyphyllis.com ![]() The above photo was taken during Phyllis' appearance on NBC's "South Florida Today" show on Friday, July 25, 2008. |
